We talk a lot about lighting, musicality, and technique when filming. But what about the invisible elements?
Our senses directly dictate our movement quality. Scent, in particular, is an incredible anchor. It creates a mood and a highly specific vibe that helps focus your training session and that feeling translates directly to the camera, even when your audience is watching through a screen. The fragrance you wear changes how you breathe, how you transition, and how you express the art of your movement.
Here is my fragrance lineup and the specific energy each scent brings to my studio sessions:
For sundrenched afternoon flows: Replica Beach Walk
The creamy coconut and ylang-ylang create a solar, skin-like warmth. It perfectly matches the aesthetic of the light bouncing off your stilettos as you train intricate thread pathways, deliberate edgework, pirouettes, and fluid spinal articulation.
For morning floorwork sessions: Laurel Bath House Not Vanilla
Every rotation needs a grounded anchor. This small-batch vanilla brings a rich, deliberate energy that aligns perfectly with heavy basslines. It provides the weighted, confident energy needed for seamless shoulder rolls, sweeping leg waves, and melting effortlessly into the floor.
For dynamic basework: Victoria's Secret Bombshell
Crisp, bright passionfruit and peony bring a fresh, energizing lift. This is the exact energy needed to execute sharp transitions, base illusions, standing straddle mechanics, and thread flawlessly through the lower third of the pole.
For evening moody low flows: Valentino Born in Roma Intense
The bourbon vanilla and jasmine bring a grounded, deliberate, and striking energy that aligns perfectly with heavy basslines, sharp heel technique, and stylized floor-to-base transitions.
For sunny/cloudy spin pole sessions: Vacation Inc. Grand Cuvée
Sparkling, atmospheric, and effervescent. The crisp ozonic notes match the momentum of the spin, amplifying the feeling of weightless shapes, floating climbs, and continuous aerial rotation.
For evening stretching sessions: Byredo Mojave Ghost
A weightless, ethereal woody-floral. It's an intimate skin-scent that feels like a calming reset while lengthening through oversplits, breathing into active flexibility, and holding deep, restorative poses.
For creative choreo sessions: Finola by The FEY
Light, bright, and mystical. When stepping from character to choreo, this scent taps into an ethereal, fairy-world energy. It unlocks the creative process, allowing the technical mechanics of flow to merge perfectly with theatrical expression.
A clean, breathable tropical vanilla. Because it is hypoallergenic, it keeps you grounded and smelling incredible without feeling suffocating during high-intensity pull-ups, invert drills, and core stabilization.
Honorable Mention: The Classic Floral Upgrade
If you love a classic tuberose and gardenia profile but want a modern, sleek upgrade, this Malibu-born indie fragrance is the ultimate golden hour secret. It is a sheer, intoxicating white floral that gives you that confident, commanding energy without any of the suffocating heaviness.
